NICHOLSON CIRCUIT CHAMPION:  Talented Biloxi pro David Nicholson, who has been a fixture on the tournament scene the last three years earned his first ring, after taking down the Main Event.  Nicholson won $148,590 and qualified for the WSOP Circuit National Championship. 

Nicholson clinched it on the final hand when his AK maintained its advantage vs. the AQ of second place David Olson of Addison, TX.  Olson won 91k for his consolation price.  Third place, Chris Gamboa of Houston, TX won 67k, and also accumulated enough points to win the all around title which grants him a seat in the WSOP National Championship too. 

Clay Henry, a contractor from LA, and Kenny Milam, a La Place, LA native also made the final table.  Milam finished in tenth for 11k and Henry in seventh for 22k.  Great to see Nicholson get a much deserved win under his belt after outlasting the large field of 475 players.  Tim Burt and several other circuit friends cheered Nicholson on to his victory.

REGISTERED SEX OFFENDER FEELS EPIC POKER'S WRATH:  Michael DiVita is a registered sex offender and therefore in violation of Epic Poker's code of conduct.  As he nonchalantly told Pokernews "Sure I'm a sex offender, so what, let's move on."  Sure, so what...  However, as farcical as that sounds, he wasn't trying out to be a lifeguard at a pool in Disney World, the guy won a seat for a 20k buy-in poker tournament and they only gave him his entry fee back. 

We aren't going to comment on a guy who can't keep his hands to himself playing a game that requires doing exactly that, too much, because it seems like no matter which side you take in this "controversy" there are no winners.  Epic (allegedly) arbitrarily threw their code of conduct around and borderline intimidated this guy into relinquishing his seat...  but the dude is a sex offender, not only that he's one that addresses those transgressions as matter-of-factly as speeding one or two miles over the legal limit.

PRESIDENTIAL DEBATE POKER ZINGER: 

Mitt Romney told Rick Perry it doesn't mean you are a good poker player if you are dealt four aces.  In effect, saying the successes of Texas had less to do with Perry and more to do with the hand he was dealt.  To which Rick replied "Mitt you were doing good until you starting talking about poker."  Hmmm... makes you wonder how any of these candidates feel about poker. 

Obama famously played in a Congressional home game but has hardly been poker friendly since being elected.  Most notably letting Eric Holder run wild on online poker.  Seems Perry is talking a bit of big game, as you would expect a Texan to, hopefully, if elected as far as poker concerned he's not all hat and no cattle.

MATT WAXMAN WINS IN EUROPE:

Parkland, Florida native Matt Waxman became the first American to win a WPT event at the Grand Prix de Paris.  Waxman beat Hugo "Les Mis" Lemaire to win 518k in Euros which we think is more than 518k in dollars.  It's his third WPT cash.   The win upped his lifetime winnings to almost 1.7 million. 

He's cashed 12 times in WSOP events and won the Harrah's Atlantic City Circuit event late last year.  Congrats Matt! Another famous young poker player from Florida got his start crushing tournaments in Europe and if Waxman has half the career of Jason Mercier he'll have a good life.

Alawadhi looks forward to more days by the pool after beating George Seifert look-a-like and former chip leader Mark Fledderman, Slidell's Bob Beck, and a slew of local entrants/rooting interests.  Congrats to all the top 18, even though only one of you was fully happy after a long day's action.

Joseph Phelps of Diamond, MS is a short stack on the chip leaders table with only 38.6k.  Bob Beck of Slidell, LA is not too far ahead with 67k.  The table that is drawing a lot of interest is led by Jacob Bazeley.  With 192k he's the big stack but Bobby Kelley of Gulf Shores, AL is close behind with 140k.  November Niner John Dolan sits on 113k.  Storming Don Norman has 65.9k, Bob Mahoney of Biloxi, MS 58.9k and the short stack on this loaded table is Captain Tom Franklin with 22.6k.  Pyke Babin of Gonzales, LA comes back on the last table with 94.2k.

BY GEORGE-IA:  Ronnie George and the state of Georgia dominated this event.  George and three other Georgians finished 1 through four.  Ronnie George won 17,9k for first.  Jason Maeroff, Cody Cash and Christopher Adkins found things almost as peachy finishing 2nd through 4th, for 9.5k, 5.3k, and 4.1k.  Duplynn Rhodes Brown and Tyler Dixon of New Orleans both made the final table. 

Later in the day, Michael Pillsbury of Dover, DE won the 550 Heads Up event.  John Finnan of Metairie, LA was runner up.  Jonathan Moseley of Acworth, GA bested John Dolan of Biloxi, MS for third.
